Piacere Milano !

09.10.2025

Ciao, mi chiamo Thaïs, I’m 21 years old and I’m from France, more precisely Brittany (yes, the most beautiful region in France !).

I love creating : photos, videos, designs… basically anything that lets me tell stories and share ideas. That’s why I studied communication (#graduate). I’m very curious, I love traveling, discovering new things, learning… and I also enjoy music, concerts, festivals, reading, walks, and of course, dancing.

I’ve always been involved in associations or local projects, either as a volunteer or during my professional experiences. I like contributing to projects that have meaning, meeting people, and sharing experiences. Solidarity and sharing are very important values to me.

That’s why this year I wanted to try something a little different : a European Volunteering project with the European Solidarity Corps. Before continuing my studies in graphic design, I wanted to discover something new, step out of my comfort zone, travel, and meet new people. I applied to several projects and did interviews to really find a mission that suited me. And now here I am in Milan for 8 months, with AVIS Regionale Lombardia !

With Emmi, the other volunteer from Finland, we work on the Bloodline-Z project, which encourages young people to be supportive and live a healthy lifestyle. Our days are busy : creating visual and video content, managing social media, organizing events, and helping with some administrative tasks.

It’s already been 3 weeks here, and it’s amazing ! I’ve met so many new people, started getting my bearings in the city and nearby areas, and begun my volunteering work at AVIS. Of course, hearing Italian every day and trying to understand and speak it can be a little tiring, but I’m excited to start classes ! Most importantly, I feel really welcomed and supported by the AVIS team, which makes adapting much easier.

For me, this volunteering experience is about learning, sharing, and growing. Learning by discovering a new culture and new ways of communicating, and sharing by putting my creativity into a meaningful project (and also improving my English and learning Italian !).

It’s just the beginning, and I’m already excited to see what the next months will bring and to discover even more of Italy ! 🌍
