I Misteri delle Chiavi: Un Viaggio a Milano
Living in Milan has been an incredible adventure full of surprises, laughter, and plenty of learning. It’s been five months, and the city feels like it’s a part of me.The new residence  came with a list of strict rules (and I’m not great at following them!). I keep forgetting to leave my keys with reception and always find myself running back down to drop them off. But the best part? I’ve made some wonderful new friends here who make even these small mistakes worth it.
Food and Friendship: Sharing My Culture
One of my favorite memories from this month was taking my new friends out for Lebanese food. They’d heard me talk about Middle Eastern flavors, and they were so curious to try it! Watching their faces as they tasted different spices and dishes was such a joy. Their excitement made me feel like I was bringing a piece of home to Milan, and it reminded me how lucky I am to be surrounded by friends who want to learn about my world.
Creativity at Work: Making My Mark
Work with AVIS has been a place where I can really express myself. I recently gave a presentation about my background and culture to my team, which filled me with pride. Then I got to decorate the office for a recent event, adding little creative touches that made the space feel more personal. I even took some photos to capture my “artwork” so I could share a bit of my creativity with friends outside of work.
Workplace Laughter and New Friendships
Work has truly become a second home, thanks to my amazing colleagues. We’ve grown close enough to joke around, pull small pranks, and share stories that keep the atmosphere light and happy. Having people at work who make you laugh and support you makes every day better, and I feel grateful to be part of a team that feels like family.
Exploring Italy: A Magical Weekend
This month, I escaped to Lake Como for a weekend, exploring the beautiful towns of Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio. Each one felt like it came straight out of a storybook, with breathtaking views and streets that seemed to hold onto history. I went with someone special, and we were celebrating a very dear occasion to my heart , so the trip was filled with laughter and memories I’ll treasure. Back in Milan, we topped off our getaway with dinner at Gloria Osteria , where I had the best spaghetti of my life! Thanks to someone who managed to score a reservation, the meal felt even more special.
A Day of Celebration: Reuniting with Merve in Milan
In the last week of October, my Turkish friend Merve visited me in Milan for a day, and I felt like a local as I showed her around the city! Merve is also participating in the European Solidarity Corps project, but she’s based in Bologna, and I can’t wait to visit her in November. We met during our arrival training in Rome and quickly became best friends. I’m so glad to have her in my life, and we celebrated together because her boyfriend proposed to her last month, she’s engaged! I couldn’t be happier for her.
