It’s already been two months since I arrived in Milan… time goes by so fast !
Little by little, I’m finding my rhythm here : at work with AVIS, in everyday life, meeting new people… and of course, learning Italian.
I keep taking Italian classes every week and I’m starting to understand more and more (especially when people speak slowly 😅). Speaking, though, is still another story… but I’m trying! To practice, I often write in my notebook in Italian, it really helps me improve and keep a record of everything I’m discovering.
Outside of work, I’m really enjoying life in Milan: walks around the city, cafés, museums, little markets, Fashion Week, evenings with friends… And whenever I can, I go explore the surroundings, there’s always a new place to discover (Bergamo, Lake Como, Lake Maggiore…).
But the highlight of this month was definitely the ESC training in Rome.
Five very intense days full of workshops, discussions, games, and shared moments. There were about fifty of us, volunteers from all over Europe. It was so interesting to exchange with people from different cultures, to talk about our projects, and to see all the different ways of getting involved.
After the training, a few of us stayed in Rome for the weekend.
We visited the must-sees but also discovered smaller, quieter places, away from the tourists. And above all, we spent great moments together, laughing, talking, comparing our languages, habits, favorite dishes… It was such a lovely break, full of discoveries and connections !
These first two months have been intense, sometimes a bit tiring, but mostly very fulfilling.
I’m learning so much, about others and about myself. And even if it’s not always easy, I feel really lucky to be living this experience! 🌞
A presto !
